Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum, located in Ancaster, Ontario, stands as the most architecturally significant mausoleum project in North America today. The mausoleum features a large Kalwall atrium skylight, marking a first-of-its-kind design for Catholic Cemeteries. The structure is highlighted by a cantilevered concrete canopy, gracefully raised on both ends to create a welcoming entrance. Kalwall translucent building systems were chosen for their design flexibility and exceptional daylighting performance, providing a unique translucent quality and appropriate natural light that aligns with the building's sacred purpose. Kalwall underwent rigorous vetting by the consultant to ensure it would endure as long as the building structure itself, which is designed to stand for 100 years. The mausoleum is designed with energy efficiency and sustainability in mind, embodying modern principles of architecture while maintaining a serene and respectful environment.
